Rope as Conversation
In this class we will use insights from neuroscience, communication science, and partnered acrobatics to extend the metaphor of rope interactions as conversations which involve both listening and speaking among both partners. Sometimes at a party we like to be entertained by someone’s lovely stories they have told 100 times (e.g., bondage rides) and other times we like to have a conversation that allows us both to listen hard to each other. We will consider what’s next if we ask "what if both of these are ok and involve specific skills and techniques?"
What to bring: Rope! At least one 3 meter piece would be great.
Note 1: We suggest coming to this workshop with a partner. You don’t need to have tied together before but trust and comfortability touching each other helps. It is suitable for couples where one person ties and the other is tied and in which both people would like to explore what breaking traditional “person tying/person-being-tied” boundaries might entail.
Note 2: This workshop is suitable for all levels. We will not be teaching much in the way of ties. We will work on processes integral to “leaning in” and experiencing tying and being tied as rewarding.
Note 3: This is a Fuck Yes workshop. Safety and consent questions and concerns are ok to bring up at any time during the workshop. Please only engage in practices during the workshop that you are enthusiastic about - there will be no pressure for you to try anything.

Bringing snacks/food to share are encouraged, but not required. We will have time to refresh, re-hydrate, and nosh.
SMART Ties meetings are open to anyone 19 and older and no membership is needed. We aim to be an fun, education-based group focused on teaching, sharing, and exploring the fascinating world of rope, open to ALL levels of experience.
