To kick off 2024 we are hosting Flaming River Con with a panel entitled “Turn and Face the Strange: A Spicy Literature Discussion.”
And as always, our play party runs till 1AM!
Paranormal romance, monster erotica and slashfic are more than enjoyable reads to pass the time. Some of these mediums go on to become mainstream fiction, create new genres, and challenge what sort of romantic groupings are acceptable and desirable. In this guided discussion, our participants will talk about how supernatural fiction acts as an agent for worldbuilding queer spaces, normalizing different relationship structures, and expressing desires.
Panelists will include:
Finn (they/he) is a future programmer, and past artist, working in healthcare. As a survivor (and contributor) of 2013 Tumblr, they've been reading fanfic and smut from just about every genre imaginable. From Quizilla to fanfiction.net, from Tumblr to AO3; Nothing is more fun than figuring out your sexuality and gender between author's notes.
Mori (she/her): Mori is a Cleveland native, and is currently working in the insurance field. She is passionate about all things witchy and spooky, spending time with her wife and corgi Freya, and has been a FRC planning team member since 2019. Outside of work her hobbies include reading fanfic and books, watching anime and K dramas, and volunteers with local dog rescues.
Alejandro (He/They): Alejandro transplanted to Cleveland from Phoenix, and he currently works with the veteran population and is going back to school to obtain a degree in nursing. Outside of work, Alejandro is passionate about volunteering and activism for the LGBTQIA+ community, all things Pokémon, and spoiling his cat Naomi.
Bellamy Morales (they/them but not offended by she/her) is a reproductive worker at Preterm. They are a huge Swiftie but interested in Star Wars, the ACOTAR series, the Fever series, and Game Of Thrones among many other fandoms. They love finding queer undertones in media and expansions on theories through art, fanfiction, and fandom social media.
Kit (they/them): Kit is the co-founder and President of Flaming River Con. Outside of FRC, they are deeply devoted to a crone lifestyle of reading, tarot, afternoon tea, crocheting, and themed cardigans.

Your vaccination card, in person at the event, along with your photo ID
A photograph on your phone of your vaccination card and ID: together in the same image with all your information visible. You should still bring your ID with you, but we understand not everyone carries their vaccination card.
