  Come join OhioSMART for our first Play Space Monitor Training of 2024! 

  This training will bring our volunteers, members, and guests up to date on our latest space protocols and procedures to volunteer as a Play Space Monitor during OhioSMART events. 
  

  **Anyone (even those previously trained) should attend this event to be trained to volunteer as a PSM.**
  

  Don’t worry if you can’t make this session - we do plan to hold another PSM training this year!

  2:45 pm: Training ends, Door/registration opens for general party

   **Please note, the party will not begin until 3:00 pm! Training will be going on until 2:45 pm.** 

  
  

  For those that attend the training, the party will be free of cost. For those that do not plan to attend training, party cost is 15$ for guests and 10$ for members.

  Calling all littles, middles, and more! Come to OhioSMART's First Friday Futos-for-Fluffos or Stuffie Suspension Fun!

  Come learn how to tie up your Stuffie and make them fly!

  **No rope experience needed.**

  @emie-lou2 and @ServiceElevator will be there to assist in your tying. If you do have smaller diameter rope, like a cotton line or paracord, feel free to bring it. If you don't, OhioSMART will have some to share!

  In addition, we will also have an "Adopt-a-Stuffie" table! Come and bring your new or gently used stuffies in need of a home. We will have a table set up for you to drop them off with a small card where you can write their info for their future friend! Anyone can take home a stuffie, you do not need to re-home a stuffie to take one home. Everyone is welcome to them!

• OhioSMART Third Saturday May: Too Hot to Handle, Wax Play

  Curious about wax play? Just starting out? Played with wax before and want to do more? Then this two part class is for you!

  ---

  **The first part of the evening will cover the building blocks of wax play:**

  - Building a wax kit for at home and travel

  - The SCIENCE and SAFETY of wax

  - Exploring wax play techniques: pouring, dripping, etc.

  - Negotiation and aftercare of wax play*

  For the second part of the evening, @-_Nox_- , @KaRe_B , and @ServiceElevator will break into three areas of the Arch Dungeon. Individuals will be able to participate in bottoming, topping, or experience different types of wax play.**

  **Each station will include:**

  - An explanation and ability to explore from that point of view or experience

  - How wax should feel or look on an individual from a top, bottom, or experience perspective

  - Tips and Tricks of each experience

  *In order to be assured of the type of wax used, we will be providing the materials needed. **As a reminder, wax play is edge play! No matter how ‘safely’ applied, hot wax does carry a burn risk.**

  We do encourage individuals to wear clothing they don’t care about (or no clothing at all!) when participating in the second part of the class. Everyone can confirm: wax is terrible to get out of clothing!

  In this class we’ll only be covering paraffin and soy candles. Beeswax candles will not be covered in this course.

  **Bios:**

  From NJ to MD, @-_Nox_- has carved a home for themselves in the Mid-Atlantic kink community since the summer of 2012. They are a queer Black individual who focuses on community care and cuddling their three rambunctious cats. A service-first individual, Nox can usually be found helping or volunteering for events. They have been involved with and using wax as a tool for play for nearly a decade. They are looking forward to expanding their adventures westward to discuss wax play and building kits with you.

  @ServiceElevator is providing a helping hand for today's wax play class! They have been an active member of the OhioSMART community for just over three years and are currently serving as a board member. Much of their experience with wax play comes from at home trials and errors, before taking courses at OhioSMART. Wax play is an activity that they are always excited to participate in, since messier scenes are not something they do often.

  @KaRe_B is a queer agender switch who loves all things wax play. They have been hanging around the Cleveland scene since 2018 and are passionate about making wax play accessible to everyone. In their spare time, Kare makes their own wax and enjoys labbing out new ways to use wax in play. Additionally, they host OhioSMART munches, are on the OhioSMART board, and really enjoy good conversation while noshing on great food. In life outside of kink - Kare loves hiking, traveling, and spending time with their dogs/partners.

• OhioSMART Queers: Gayly Walking @ The Rockefeller Park Greenhouse

  Since Ohio weather is starting to slightly level out- lets try an outing!
  
  Queers takes over The Rockefeller Park Greenhouse! Come out from 1-3 and hang out, walk around and meet new and old friends maybe hold a good conversation about Scooby Doo! This event has an indoor portion so event will be held rain or shine!
  
  After parking, you will make your way over to an area with a sculpture wall on the left and a set of double doors leading into the greenhouse. An ADA accessible walkway will lead into the building and you will see a set of restrooms on your left. Keep going straight and you will enter into the lager middle room with fish tanks. We will meet in the fish tank room before leaving to explore the greenhouse and the grounds.

  The Rockefeller Park Greenhouse
  
  The Rockefeller Park Greenhouse is a City-owned botanical garden and greenhouse that is open to the public.
  It is situated on four acres and features a variety of specialty plant collections, seasonal floral displays, and colorful theme gardens that are on display year around seven days a week. Inside you will find tropical plants, fruit trees, orchids, and spectacular seasonal displays. Outside, according to their growing seasons, specialty gardens bloom in a delightful and sustainable greenspace.

  Anyone looking to mingle while enjoying some good and drink is welcome! The event is for everyone, but especially helpful to anyone that would like to come socialize in a relaxed setting or get information about OhioSMART in a casual environment.

  This month we are heading back to Tony K’s in Barea! Tony K’s Bar & Grille is a place to dine in a casual, relaxing atmosphere where friends meet friends for fun and good food. They are located in the middle of Berea’s industrial corridor. Specialties include American and Mediterranean foods.   @The_Monkey_King will be joining us to teach for the June class!

  Many people have expressed difficulty with finding a good hip harness that they are fond of and that works well for either being tied in, or the people they are tying.

  In this class we will cover:

  • What makes a good hip harness.
  • How to identify where weight is both safe and comfortable to place support.
  • How to create a support structure that will place weight where you want it to.
  • How to add additional support if the thing you’ve created isn’t comfortable.
  • How to identify when to switch ideas completely based on the needs of your bottom.

  @The_Monkey_King Bio:

  Ever learning and evolving, this monkey's ongoing mission: to spread knowledge, wherever it may be lacking; to seek out kinksters, lifestylers, and leather families, wherever they may be; to boldly improve his mind, to train, study, apprentice, and master those things that he can. The Monkey King has helped provide a number of educational opportunities for the community covering a variety of topics. He has a passion for education, which manifests regularly through classes, private lessons, and group teaching scenarios. For over two decades, he has been teaching on a variety of topics including the martial arts and percussion. Within the last several years, his focus has turned toward things kinky and will continue in that direction as long as there are people who wish to learn.

  For this class you will need:
  Rope/Gear: 4x30' hanks or more is ideal. We have some to share if needed
  Safety: Shears/Cutting Tool Class
  Type: hip harness construction
  Class Setup: Mat/Ground Area
  Prerequisite: Single Column preferred

  This class will focus on an introduction to Electroplay, focusing mainly on its relatively well-known forms, E-stim and Violet Wands, but also touching on a variety of lesser-known forms. We will cover general safety information and best practices, as well as some high-level ideas for how you can play with electricity in your scenes.

  @Racer26 (he/him) is a Toronto-based polyamorous switch and electroplay enthusiast. He has been active in the Toronto and greater Southern Ontario scene since 2010, and the Cleveland-area OhioSMART scene since 2022. Racer has been involved in running munches in various cities around Southern Ontario since shortly after becoming part of the scene. Racer also had a toy-making business for a time, building and selling a variety of impact and other implements at vendor fairs across Ontario.

  Come join Queers for a Main Dungeon takeover! Bring in your favorite fidget toys to show others, or bring your favorite craft to do. Crochet, knitting, coloring books, friendship bracelets, decorating paddles, etc- if you can craft it feel free to bring it! Minus anything glitter based - no one needs that kind of pain (even if we are in the dungeon)!
